This week, Retro Album Rock salutes 1984. And we also pay tribute to Prince, in what was probably his biggest year as an artist.
1984 was known as the year of “Big Brother”, and was a real uncertain period for Progressive Rock. The genre was being pulled in several different directions — most notably “Club Sound” vs. “Polished Straight-Up Rock” vs. “Genre-Stretching”. Music was splintering into one of these three categories. Fans didn’t know what to think or which road to follow. It made for some good radio however, since no one knew what kind of sound was going to come up next on-the-air!!!
Check out the varied sounds from 1984 spinning right now on TuneIn!
Thank you for listening and supporting our station!
